Mr Anthony Wendt

5th Degree Black Belt Master Instructor

School Owner at Choi Kwang-Do Richmond

Anthony Wendt was born and bred in Richmond, and it was always his dream to bring Choi Kwang-Do back to his home town.

Born in 1975, Anthony showed an interest in martial arts at a very early age. Anthony started Choi Kwang-Do in Richmond at the age of 14, and was a regular and devoted student for the next 4 years.

Due to the closure of the Richmond location, Anthony was forced to postpone training in Choi Kwang-Do. During this time, Anthony continued with his studies at college and his chosen career. He also experimented with various martial arts, including Kickboxing and Kung Fu.

In 2002 Anthony returned to Choi Kwang-Do more determined and focused than ever. Anthony now realised that Choi Kwang-Do had the answers that other systems were missing.

Under the tutelage of Master Jason Wright, Anthony was awarded Assistant Instructor status in 2003 and obtained 1st Degree Black Belt in 2004. Anthony then became a Chief Instructor in 2005.

In 2006, Anthony reached his next goal, gaining his 2nd Degree Black Belt.  He knew the time was then right to look upon opening his own school in his home town.

Choi Kwang-Do Richmond first opened its doors in July 2007 and, with a reputation for first-class tuition, has been attracting students of all ages and abilities ever since.  Choi Kwang-Do is back in Richmond!

In June 2018, Anthony was promoted to the rank of 5th Degree Black Belt and Master Instructor.  Anthony was presented his belt by Grandmaster Choi at the 30th Anniversary Seminar at Harrow Leisure Centre.

Anthony said in a press interview: "Without the friendly camaraderie, loyalty, focus and determination of my students, Choi Kwang-Do Richmond wouldn't be what it is today.  Seeing them progress week by week is the reason I chose to make Choi Kwang-Do my career.  I am extremely proud of them all."
